FLICKER OF THE WEEK
Oscar winners, Disney critters, and CGI-laden headache inducers take up space in most area venues, so our “FOW” goes to the distinct group(ing) effort that will play the Art Theater Co-op starting on Fri., 3/4. Michael Moore searches abroad for solutions to the American nightmare in WHERE TO INVADE NEXT, Dame Maggie Smith plays THE LADY IN THE VAN who pops a 15-year-long squat in the driveway of a playwright, an exiled family in 17th century New England must deal with THE WITCH in another A24 hit, Krannert Art Museum brings “Time/Image” to the Art with a presentation of PICKPOCKET (1959) from the French master Robert Bresson, and a portion of concession sales during tonight’s 10 p.m. reprise of the arguably radical MAD MAX: FURY ROAD will help benefit R.A.C.E.S., an Urbana center for sexual abuse counseling and education that is in danger of closing. Also, please note the list directly below that is comprised once again of opportunities in area-made media. Screen some, submit some!
