Grant awarded for A/V study

Article in Champaign daily The News-Gazette about the “Audio-Visual Self-Assessment Program,” a $420,000 initiative by the University of Illinois Library to develop a computerized system that will aid collectors and archivists in analyzing media holdings and prioritizing which materials are in the most urgent need of preservation. The UI Library itself houses thousands of recordings in old and outdated formats, including audio tape, analog video, and 16mm film.
