Seasons to change for CUZine…
Augh. Let’s just cut this announcement loose.
Our long-time annual digest, C-U Confidential, will not be coming out this spring for the New Art Film Festival or Roger Ebert’s Film Festival. Two primary factors have contributed. First, we have too much work to perform for NAFF’s sake between now and April 12, and we’d hate to give CUZine short shrift, quality-wise. (Faithful readers saw what happened last year in a similar situation. CUZine #6 arrived late, in June.) Second, the finance demons have bedeviled us again; while past MICRO-FILM transgressions are dead and buried, cost overruns on the last three issues of CUZine have cramped our behind-the-scenes style, especially since advertising monies have not kept pace with production needs. Therefore, we won’t have a shiny, glossy conversation starter to hand the citizens of Champaign, Urbana, and the cities beyond a few weeks from now.
This does not mean CUZine is snuffed. Our current plan is to street CUZine #7 in early fall, when several potential distribution points will come into play: Freeky Creek Short Film Festival, Route 66 International Film Festival, Drunken Zombie Film Festival, and Embarras Valley Film Festival, to name a few. If you are a potential advertiser or silent supporter who would like to be contacted when rates and deadlines are available mid-summer, please write cuconfidential [at] gmail [dot] com right now and we’ll make sure you’re one of the first to know!
