BN Film Fest returns to Normal

One week after hosting the premiere of Owen Brazas’ indie feature ARTS & SCIENCE, the good folks at the Normal Theater, 209 North St., Normal, IL, will provide a public showcase for additional homegrown product when the annual BN Film Fest returns on Tuesday, May 9, 7-9 p.m., and Wednesday, May 10, 7-10 p.m. Tuesday’s show, which features work made by students from kindergarten to grade 12, will be free admission, while a $5 suggested donation will be collected at the door for Wednesday’s show, comprised of independently-made short subjects.

“We are primarily a grassroots, local festival,” BN Film Fest co-director Matt Gullett tells C-U Blogfidential. “Most of the work that we receive and show is from local K-12 students and college students. We [also] receive a few things from fledgling independent flimmakers [each year] … the festival started more than six years ago [in order] to give K-12 students a night to show their work on the big screen to parents, friends, and peers.”

The event is sponsored by the Normal Theater, the Bloomington Public Library, and the Bloomington Normal Education Alliance. Further information and clips from prior entries can be found at http://www.bnfilmfest.org/.
