May’s TTC is MAD, we say!
Somehow, we called it last month when describing the Time Traveling Cinema show presented by C-U Confidential and Psychic Joker Entertainment as a program of “mad, mad movies!” We embody the hyperbole later tonight, Friday, May 25, beginning 10 p.m. at SoDo Theatre, 114 S. Neil St., Champaign, IL, when we unleash an eclectic show characterizing the very nature of PJE and your friends here at the Secret MICRO-FILM Headquarters. Intrigued?
Starting this TTC, we plan to launch each show with an hour-long mix of short films, music videos, and Webisodes. (The more locally-created material we can cram into the opening cornucopia, the better!) This outing will feature the creepy Lovecraft ode THE WINDOW INTO TIME from Tangeant Productions of Urbana, two more adventures in the mash-up series NINJA THE MISSION FORCE by Dark Maze Studios of Champaign, and the debut of a seriocomic serial called THE BLACK KNIGHT OF SIOUX CITY created by Iowa-to-Charleston transplant Braden Boe, who also directed the New Art Film Festival selection A WAR FOR II. We’ll even sneak you a peek at Tangeant’s upcoming sci-fi drama, HEARTSHOT, starring a bevy of C-U movie regulars including Mike Trippiedi, Steve Keen, Cara Maurizi, Bill Kephart, and Chris Lukeman!
After this contemporary madness, we’ll break briefly so you may commiserate with your fellow Cinema Time Travelers and raid (politely) the snack bar before we thrust you into a black-and-white age of old-school movie magic! Several vintage shorts by the likes of Thomas Edison and Harry Houdini will amaze you before the great Vincent Price makes a return TTC PD appearance in the rare horror drama THE MAD MAGICIAN. Can you guess which role he plays? Can you afford to miss it, then?!?
If you’re looking for a strange and wonderful way to launch your holiday weekend, come see if the TTC fits the bill! We hope this community micro-cinema concept set in a clean, safe, and fully-equipped environment will encourage you to talk up our “worst kept secret” in Champaign movie entertainment to your friends and neighbors!
